李煜词
李煜(937-978)，初名从嘉，字重光，号钟隐，南唐中主第六子。徐州人。宋建隆二年(961年)在金陵即位，在位十五年，世称李后主。他嗣位的时候，南唐已奉宋正朔，苟安于江南一隅。宋开宝七年(974年)，宋太祖屡次遣人诏其北上，均辞不去。同年十月，宋兵南下攻金陵。明年十一月城破，后主肉袒出降，被俘到汴京，封违命侯。太宗即位，进封陇西郡公。太平兴国三年(978)七夕是他四十二岁生日，宋太宗恨他有“故国不堪回首月明中”之词，命人在宴会上下牵机药将他毒死。追封吴王，葬洛阳邙山。后主前期词作风格绮丽柔靡，还不脱“花间”习气。国亡后在“日夕只以眼泪洗面”的软禁生涯中，以一首首泣尽以血的绝唱，使亡国之君成为千古词坛的“南面王”(清沈雄《古今词话》语)，正是“国家不幸诗家幸， 话到沧桑语始工”。这些后期词作，凄凉悲壮，意境深远，已为苏辛所谓的 “豪放”派打下了伏笔，为词史上承前启后的大宗师，如王国维《人间词话 》所言：“词至李后主而眼界始大，感慨遂深。”至于其语句的清丽，音韵的和谐，更是空前绝后的了。 后主本有集，已失传。现存词四十四首，其中几首前期作品或为他人所作，可以确定者仅三十八首。

Vienna Boys Choir
The Vienna Boys' Choir is one of the oldest boys' choirs existing in the world. For nearly five hundred years they have been a symbol of Austria. A founding document of Maximilian I in 1498 called the first dozen boys to the imperial court as members of the newly formed court music band. Thus he showed his great interest in contemporary musical developments in Burgundy and the Netherlands. Since then the Vienna Boys' Choir has been a fixed attraction in Austrian musical life.

The Legend of 1900 is an interesting new fable from legendary Italian filmmaker Guiseppe Tornatore, maker of Cinema Paradiso and The Star Maker. Based on a monologue by Alessandro Baricco, The Legend of 1900 tells the story of a unique man who never set foot upon dry land. On January 1, 1900, a small baby boy was found abandoned on the Virginian, a transatlantic ship. The crewman who found him names the boy Danny Boodman T.D. Lemon 1900; 1900 for short. 1900 is a true orphan. He knows nothing about his parents or his past. The Virginian is the only thing he knows.

Secret Garden made history by winning the Eurovision Song Contest in 1995 with "Nocturne", an entry that was more an instrumental piece than a song. In the 4o- year history of this prestigious pan-European television extravaganza, an instrumental piece had never previously won. A piece so stylistically removed from the “European pop format” commonly associated with the song contest, that the press stated: "Secret Garden has redefined the Eurovision Song Contest”.
Secret Garden continues to write history. This surprise victory at the Eurovision Song Contest was the ultimate showcase that successfully launched their first album Songs from a Secret Garden. It was made available around the globe, including most European territories, the USA, Canada, Australia, Mexico, Hong Kong, China and Korea. This was a historic event for a Norwegian artist and record company, who for the first time had produced a worldwide release with sales of more than a million. Awards followed, including Platinum record in Norway and Korea, Gold record in Ireland, Hong Kong Korea and New Zealand as well as 2 years (101 weeks) in the Billboard New Age charts in USA.
Though the record was never technically classified as an "international release", Secret Garden’s success developed through a fantastic enthusiasm and commitment among PolyGram and Philips Classics staff (later Universal records) on a local level. Nobody was commanded to work with this project. They were driven by a passion for the music, and have seen it as a challenge to market Secret Garden in their own territories.

Hayley Westenra's new album ODYSSEY was always going to be a different proposition to PURE, the record-breaking 2003 collection which marked her international debut. PURE, made when Hayley was 15, introduced the world to a unique new voice. The album, which has sold two million copies to date, topped the UK classical charts and also went Top Ten in the pop equivalent. In her homeland, it is the biggest-selling New Zealand album of all time. For the young songbird, such success was life-transforming. From being a schoolgirl living at home with her parents and siblings in Christchurch, she was suddenly thrust onto the global stage. 'I was happy with PURE at the time, but I've moved on so much,' says Hayley. 'It's really exciting to have something new out there for people to listen to. I wanted to make a record that represented me as a person. And I think I've improved as a vocalist.’
The stunning worldwide success of PURE has done little to dampen Hayley's hunger or enthusiasm. Punctuating her conversation with infectious laughter, she obviously still loves what she does. She also can't wait to put together a tour combining old and new material.
'It's exciting to have songs that are now part of my own repertoire,' she says. 'It's nice to have a balance between new pieces and tracks that people already know. It would be boring to do a whole album of established songs. It's great to introduce new material to the world.'
